The author explores the nature of Tao-and-Zen from the Chinese and Japanese perspectives, as well as the Western movement of Zen in various forms. The usual purpose of the author is to use the Tao-Zen tradition, and its closeness to nature and the balance and harmony in the natural and simple as an antidote for the Westward movement toward the technical-rational-and-conceptual.
