The book is an absurdist novella with some dark humor. Sebastian has just moved to a new location. He was dissatisfied with his life, felt it was stalled, and wanted to do a reset. He has a plan for how he will proceed, and everything is looking promising. But then, Sebastian discovers a door and he cannot fathom how or why it exists. It's a mystery door. Though he tries to just ignore it, the mystery door has a hold over him, and he is unable to get on with his aspirations until he can figure out what the mystery door is all about. The mystery door becomes an obsession for Sebastian, that is dominating his life. His fixation with the mystery door reaches truly worrisome levels, and Sebastian knows he has to put a stop to it and get the situation in order. That's the moment that everything spirals out of control and Sebastian's experience with the mystery door becomes far more preposterous and incomprehensible than he ever could have imagined.
