Across Patagonia is a travelogue written by Florence Dixie in 1881. The book chronicles her journey across the Patagonian region of South America, which she undertook with her husband and a small party of explorers. The book is divided into chapters, each of which describes a different leg of the journey, from their departure from Buenos Aires to their arrival at the Straits of Magellan. Throughout the book, Dixie provides vivid descriptions of the landscape, flora, and fauna of Patagonia, as well as the customs and lifestyles of the indigenous people they encountered along the way. She also recounts the challenges and dangers they faced, including harsh weather conditions, treacherous terrain, and encounters with hostile tribes. In addition to her travelogue, Dixie also includes several appendices that provide further information on the history, geography, and natural resources of the region. She also includes a number of illustrations and photographs that depict the landscapes and people she encountered on her journey. Overall, Across Patagonia is a fascinating and detailed account of an intrepid journey through one of the most rugged and remote regions of South America, written by a woman who was both a skilled writer and a fearless adventurer. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
