These are the voyages of the USS Gallant, a sturdy converted man-o-war dedicated to scientific discovery and dispensation of maritime justice. Manned by a diversely talented and dedicated crew, her captain Richard De Coons would lead them from the Atlantic, round the 'horn' to the vast Pacific Ocean on missions of discovery, mapping and adventure. Never mind the Far Fleet Admiralty was concerned they left a trail of death behind them wherever they went. As a result, they were ordered to the Pacific to 'go discover stuff there'. Read on...they find horny whales, battle giant octopi, encounter islands with giant black heads, then empty islands rich with plunder. They fight pirates and discover volcanic islands. It's like Star Trek on a sailing ship!
