Against Heavy Odds: A Tale Of Norse Heroism is a historical fiction novel written by Hjalmar Hjorth Boyesen in 1890. The story is set in Norway during the Viking Age and revolves around the life of a young Norseman named Thorvald, who grows up in a small village in the fjords. Thorvald's father is killed in battle when he is young, and he is raised by his mother and grandfather, who are both skilled in the arts of war and hunting. As Thorvald grows older, he becomes a skilled warrior and is chosen to lead a group of men on a dangerous mission to rescue a princess who has been kidnapped by a rival clan. The journey is filled with perilous obstacles, including treacherous terrain, fierce battles, and dangerous enemies. Despite the heavy odds against them, Thorvald and his men persevere and ultimately succeed in their mission, earning the respect and admiration of their people.
