Alain of Halfdene is a historical fiction novel written by Anna Robeson Brown and published in 1895. The story is set in the 11th century and follows the life of Alain, a young Saxon boy who is taken as a hostage by the Vikings. Alain is raised by the Vikings and becomes a skilled warrior, but he never forgets his Saxon heritage. As he grows older, Alain finds himself torn between his loyalty to the Vikings and his desire to reclaim his Saxon identity. Along the way, he falls in love with a Viking woman and faces many challenges, including battles, treachery, and personal struggles. The novel provides an insight into the culture and customs of the Vikings and Saxons during the Middle Ages. It is a tale of adventure, romance, and self-discovery, and it offers a unique perspective on the historical events of the time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
