In defense of the biblical doctrine of Hell, Annihilationism Debunked explains how the annihilationist view undermines God's character, distorts His purpose of election, diminishes the eternal value and efficacy of Christ's saving work, and involves significant misinterpretation of the Bible. As an introductory book, Annihilationism Debunked also reviews various proof texts, explains how the cultists will twist them, responds with exegesis, and defends the doctrine of Hell, according to Scripture alone, all for the glory of God alone.

Hernandez seeks to enlighten those who set pagan cultic folk-lore above the true Word of God. He demonstrates that Atheists might well prefer annihilation to punishment for sin, but by so doing they scorn God's sovereignty over Heaven, Earth and Hell. The warning is clear: Be not deceived. At stake also is the infinite seriousness of unbelief concerning Jesus Christ, and therefore the seriousness of the infinite guilt of a life of unbelief and ungodliness. As is always the case with Hernandez' work, although he quotes extensively theological authorities on his subject, sound exegesis governs the controversy. Jude 21 establishes what is meant by eternal in verse 7. And Revelation 20:10, of the devil's punishment, establishes the nature and duration of the punishment of wicked humans elsewhere in Revelation: tormented day and night for ever and ever.
