At The Earth's Core is a science fiction novel written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The story is set in a fictional world where the Earth is hollow and the interior is inhabited by prehistoric creatures and a race of intelligent beings called the Mahars. The protagonist, David Innes, and his friend, Abner Perry, build a drilling machine and journey to the center of the Earth. They soon find themselves in a dangerous world where they must fight for survival against giant creatures and the oppressive rule of the Mahars. Along the way, they meet a beautiful woman named Dian who becomes their ally in their quest to escape the underground world and return to the surface. The novel is a thrilling adventure that explores the concept of a hollow Earth and the possibility of life existing in its depths.I WAS BORN IN CONNECTICUT ABOUT THIRTY YEARS ago. My name is David Innes. My father was a wealthy mine owner. When I was nineteen he died. All his property was to be mine when I had attained my majority--provided that I had devoted the two years intervening in close application to the great business I was to inherit. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
