Axel is a Swedish epic poem written by Esaias Tegner and published in 1866. The story is set in the 16th century and follows the life of Axel, a young man who leaves his home in Sweden to seek adventure in the world. Along the way, he becomes embroiled in a series of conflicts and battles, including a war between Sweden and Denmark, and a struggle for power between the Ottoman Empire and the Holy Roman Empire. Despite the dangers he faces, Axel remains steadfast in his quest for glory and honor. The poem is known for its vivid descriptions of battles and landscapes, as well as its exploration of themes such as courage, loyalty, and the pursuit of greatness. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
