Bede's Ecclesiastical History of the English Nation is a historical text that chronicles the spread of Christianity in England from the Roman invasion in 55 BC to the early 8th century. Written by the English monk Bede in the 8th century, the book is divided into five books that cover the major events and personalities of the early English church, including the arrival of St. Augustine in Kent, the conversion of the Northumbrian king Edwin, and the establishment of the monastic communities of Lindisfarne and Iona.
