Questo volume raccoglie tre lavori complementari - intervista, testimonianza e critica documentaria - riguardanti l'Istituto Miles Christi, di origine argentina e oggi soppresso dall'autorità pontificia. Non si tratta di una cronaca istituzionale né di un'opera apologetica, ma dell'avvio di un abbozzo. Senza pretese di totalità , cerchiamo di far luce su ciò che deliberatamente è stato mantenuto in penombra: il modo in cui certe esperienze religiose si chiudono su sé stesse, si cristallizzano e finiscono per lasciare dietro di sé una scia di occultamento, dolore e simulacro spirituale.
La prima intervista, concessa da un membro che ha chiesto di restare anonimo, è sconvolgente per la crudezza con cui descrive ciò che l'oblio - talvolta imposto - tende a seppellire. La seconda, che prosegue la prima, permette di delineare aspetti appena accennati: personalità deformate da un trionfalismo spirituale che è diventato crudeltà formale; pratiche quotidiane improntate a un'estetica rigorosa e a una disciplina strutturata che ha annientato ogni possibilità di formazione autentica.
I riferimenti a Roberto, figura dominante nella struttura formativa dell'Istituto, riattivano l'eco di Nietzsche: Di tutto ciò che si scrive, ciò che mi interessa è solo ciò che si scrive con sangue. E qui c'è sangue, c'è abnegazione, c'è dolore - non solo scritto, ma vissuto. Benché Roberto sia stato secolarizzato, voci vicine sostengono che celebri ancora la Messa, richiamando l'attenzione sui meccanismi di controllo e silenzio presenti in certe strutture ecclesiastiche.
Il presente volume incorpora anche una selezione di documenti interni forniti da ex membri: direttori, norme, schemi di formazione spirituale. Di tutto il corpus ricevuto abbiamo selezionato ciò che permette di ricostruire, almeno parzialmente, il modus operandi e il modus vivendi dell'Istituto prima della sua soppressione da parte del defunto Papa Francesco.
Questa raccolta non mira alla demolizione né al revisionismo ideologico, ma alla costituzione di una memoria critica del vissuto. Di fronte allo spettacolo delle riforme successive al Concilio Vaticano II - dove il blocco progressista si è scatenato per poi lasciare spazio a reazioni altrettanto disordinate - Miles Christi emerge come un caso emblematico del danno provocato da strutture che non si collocano apertamente nell'alveo modernista, ma ne replicano le distorsioni sotto altre vesti.
Dopo aver esaminato le testimonianze e i documenti qui presentati, non resta che riconoscere quanto è stato ribadito da chi ha vissuto all'interno dell'Istituto: una spiritualità labirintica frutto di un gesuitismo esasperato, una disciplina esteriore soffocante per le energie dell'anima e uno stile formativo ostile a qualsiasi studio intellettuale delle fonti, dove l'erudizione veniva malvista sotto lo slogan religioso studente, religioso innanzitutto - curioso, in un istituto che lavorava con universitari.
A tutto questo, e non è cosa da poco, va aggiunto lo squilibrio del fondatore e i suoi disordini morali, che costituiscono, in un certo senso, il filo conduttore di un'esperienza che - più che formativa - fu deformante.
Questo volume, dunque, non ha altra pretesa se non quella di fissare un insieme di tratti. Ma in tempi in cui l'accelerazione digitale promuove l'oblio e l'amnesia istituzionale, ogni tratto che si fissa - anche se preliminare - ha valore di testimonianza e forza di denuncia.
