Ten-year-old Bobby suffers a badly broken leg. After surgery, things go sorely bad and the doctor claims amputation is necessary to save Bobby's life. However, Bobby's four friends believe the doctor is up to no good. In their effort to convince the authorities of this, and save Bobby's leg, they end up in trouble with their parents and the law. While his friends are at work, an angel shows Bobby spiritual battles between good and evil angels. He then takes Bobby into the vast universe inside his body to witness his bone builders Bone Blobs as they try to repair the broken bone while fighting a bone-destroying virus.

Editor's note: I have to say that I have not read a book quite like this. It is a combination of The Hardy Boys, Andy Griffith, PBS Magic School Bus, and a bit of Alfred Hitchcock. It was an interesting and enjoyable read.
