Teens have a blast reading, writing, and discussing the greatest literature ever written besides the Bible. Some works are included, but you will need to purchase or borrow literature to read for this course. Starting with Beowulf and The Canterbury Tales, we will time-travel through British history, reading well-loved classics by authors like Milton, Chesterton, Dickens, Chaucer, Austen, Sayers, and Doyle. While there is a lot of reading, there is no twaddle and no busy work. Each assignment has an educational purpose. This course will stir up an appetite for excellence in reading choices.

A brief overview of British History and British Literature is given to provide context for students' reading. There are several book lists for further reading if the student desires. Instead of book reports, books are discussed in a book club setting with snacks. Questions are provided as a springboard for lively conversations about these amazing books.
