My journey began in the early morning hours of March 22, 2018 when my husband Lee died and took a part of me with him. That part was thirty-four years in the making . . . wife, companion, lover, and friend were wiped away, leaving only what felt like a shell of myself. Little did I know, at that moment, how painful the journey of grief would be, how far into the depths of despair it would take me, and what roads I would travel to find my way out of the darkness.
This collection of poems comes out of that journey. They chronicle the myriad of emotions one can experience after suffering a great loss-emotions that can initially tear a person apart, but can eventually help them to go forward and forge a new life with meaning and purpose.
