The Girls State 14-15 age group softball championship is over with the Eastside Crickets claiming the championship over the Westside Crickets. As both teams and their fans make their way to the parking area, the crowd passes by the grandstands. Many people stop to hear Alana, the mother of Sadie, a player for the Westside team share her experience with Chalie Chalie.

If I may, I would like to tell how I met Chalie Chalie. I was 15 years old and just finished my freshman year in high school. I was so self-conscious of my appearance. I was a towering 5' tall, and yes... that is my current height as I stand before you. The large frame glasses I wore certainly didn't help. At that time in my life, my self-esteem was really fragile.

I would like to share what I thought at the time was a bad experience. It's funny, you never know why somethings happen in your life. I bet most of us can think back to a time when some event we thought was bad actually turned out to lead us to something better. Along comes Chalie Chalie!
