本書以流行音樂的角度切入探討和聲學中的各種手法，在第一部分精挑細選了中外的經典流行音樂中的曲目來做參考。雖然只有七首的和聲進行，卻包含了幾乎大部分的和聲手法使用，也讓這幾首曲子的特別之處可以一聽就讓人印象深刻。每一首的QRCode讓讀者可以直接先聽看看，和絃譜則可以讓讀者自行彈奏看看（也附上了吉他和絃譜方便吉他學習者彈奏練習），譜後都有許多相關的和聲分析。
第二部分則是歸納了大部分和聲學中的手法理論介紹與分析，以及各手法出現在這七首中的哪幾首，方便學習者對照學習與參考。
第三部分則選用了簡單的兩首曲目的和絃進行來改編，讓讀者可以跟著一步一步的瞭解和聲手法如何分別的使用在改編中，或是創作中，如何慢慢的讓一首曲子的和絃進行更加有特色以及與眾不同。
