琼瑶，原名陈喆，一九三八年生于四川成都，出身于书香门第。一九四九年，随父陈致平由大陆到台湾生活，开始写作生涯，随后进入电影、电视剧制作行业。
Qiong Yao, originally named Chen Zhe, was born in Chengdu, Sichuan in 1938 and came from a scholarly family. In 1949, she followed her father Chen Zhiping from mainland China to Taiwan to start her writing career, and later entered the film and television production industry.
