The Chronicle of Jocelin of Brakelond, Monk of St. Edmundsbury is a historical account of monastic and social life in the twelfth century. Written by Jocelin de Brakelond, a monk at St. Edmundsbury Abbey, the book provides a detailed picture of daily life in a medieval monastery, as well as the interactions between the monastery and the surrounding community. The book covers a period of over thirty years, from the appointment of Abbot Samson in 1182 to the death of King Henry II in 1189. Jocelin's writing is vivid and engaging, providing a fascinating glimpse into the world of medieval England.
