The author draws from his experience in law enforcement and ministry to provide a solution to the Pastor's Paradox. The Pastor's Paradox demonstrates that too much security will inhibit the ability to reach the lost while too little security leaves the flock vulnerable. Spirit Led Security is a biblically based strategy to manage the stewardship responsibility of providing a safe worship environment while being focused on the Great Commission. This book recommends a multi-layered approach consisting of overt and covert elements to counter weather, medical, and violent threats. At its core is a designated Safety Team focused on stewardship, outreach, and discipleship.
The goal of Spirit Led Security is a safe worship environment free from distraction and focused on outreach. Some of the topics covered include a biblical basis, outreach to first responders, situational awareness, target hardening, creating and training a safety team, liability, consulting secular security experts, identifying red flags and pre-assault indicators, creating an emergency preparedness plan, and responding to an active shooter. From the Lead Pastor to the person serving on their first day as a greeter, the reader will be empowered to enhance the safety of the worship environment while remaining focused on reaching the lost.
Jason is married to his wonderful wife Heather and they have one son. Together they are partners in marriage, raising their son, and in ministry. Jason is a former Deputy U.S. Marshal, federal agent, and experienced instructor in firearms and SWAT tactics. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Theological Studies from Liberty University and a Master of Science degree in International Affairs from Florida State University. He has participated in mission trips to Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Middle East. Currently Jason serves as an associate pastor at East Coast Believers Church in Oviedo, Florida.
