When Nathan Greene lost everything from his restaurant and reputation to the man who was supposed to love him, he packed up his life and headed from Texas to New Mexico, where he took on the job of ranch chef. But he soon finds out that Nathan can give as good as he gets, and when Ames's teenage cousin shows up needing a home, Nathan is incredibly kind to her. Which makes it impossible to dislike the guy.
Both Ames and Nathan have their pasts to contend with, and Ames has to worry about building a life for his cousin as well, but the men finally find common ground and start something wonderful, they think. As long as work, distance, and that past catching up with Nathan don't put too many roadblocks in their way.
