Daegu is located in the southeastern part of Korea. It is a local arts and culture city that embraces modern and contemporary culture in Korea. In Daegu, there are musical and opera festivals that combine art, literature, and design with a focus on music. It also hosts various international music events, including Korean traditional music, classical music, and contemporary music. The Daegu Opera Festival was held in August 2003 with the opening of the Daegu Opera House.
Daegu International Opera Festival, the largest international opera festival in Asia, is held for about a month in autumn every year.
Daegu International Musical Festival is the only musical festival in Asia. It has been held in Daegu every June since 2007.
The World Orchestra Series held every November is the only orchestra festival in Asia.
Various music-related festivals are also held in Daegu, including the National Gugak Competition, Daegu International Jazz Festival, Daegu Folk Festival, Youth Hip Hop Festival, and K-Pop/B-Boy Competition. This book expresses the emotions I felt while traveling in Daegu through poetry.
