Calm eyes that take Marko in without fear or apology. She looks like the sort of woman people trust instinctively, the sort who could ruin a life without raising her voice.
She explains it easily. Almost casually.
She was on holiday. The intel pinged. The target was close. She decided to handle it before catching her flight. Business, folded neatly into pleasure.
For Flora, killing is not desperation or survival. It is precision. It is control. It is a game played at a level Marko has never been allowed to reach.
The problem is that Marko needed this kill.
Not for pride. Not for reputation. For money. For time. For the fragile illusion that he might someday choose something other than violence. Without this contract, the future collapses into familiar shapes. Debt. Hunger. Promises broken quietly.
They stand there, two assassins at opposite ends of the same mistake, measuring each other over a corpse neither of them can afford to explain.
And in that suspended moment, before the gunfire starts and the system turns on them both, something dangerous sparks between them. Recognition. Curiosity. A pull neither of them trusts.
