The aim of this research was to analyze the advances made in participatory democratic management in education and, consequently, to provide theoretical support for reflection on the subject in such a way that it is possible to respond to current concerns. Identifying the actions that have facilitated or hindered the participation of communities, students and teachers in decision-making and problem-solving at school; highlighting, above all, the importance of the Pedagogical Political Project in school management. The participatory management of schools is essentially embedded in the pedagogical political project, providing the actors involved (students, teachers and parents) with the opportunity to exercise active and responsible citizenship. From this perspective, the school plays a fundamental role alongside the family in the formation of critical citizens with social responsibility.
