Born December 17th, 1819 and dead on November 21st, 1831, La Gran Federación de Estados de Colombia (1826) comprised the Republics of today s countries: Panamá, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolívia, English Guiana and Venezuela. It harnessed an extension comparable, if not larger, than that of the United States at that time, and it was poised to be a leading power for all that it was worth, a model of a Republic, with a modern system of government that rivaled all that were set up at that time in Europe. A new Éirinn, (Ehrynn, from the Gaelic meaning green water ) literally, in the words of the Irish hero General Francis Burdett O Connor.

A series of political offspins and ultimately the failure of the Congress of Panamá, coupled with the death of Bolívar in 1830, was the final blow to the existence of this grand dream, his Delusions of Grandeur (to some at least !), which brought about its definitive demise.
