A deserted house. A forbidden ritual. An entry that was never finished.
Alonzo Typer, a refined scholar and occultist, comes to a remote, decaying house in the wild and dreaded woods of New Jersey: a place long whispered about by the locals and believed to be the nexus of an ancient, terrible evil. Typer has not come to study the horror; he has come to participate in it.
Obsessed with forbidden knowledge and the prospect of contacting beings from outside our dimension, Typer meticulously records his descent into ritualistic preparations. His diary entries track his growing fear, the bizarre and unnatural geometry of the house, and the looming presence of the supernatural entity he is attempting to summon.
The text gradually shifts from scholarly record to frantic testament, culminating in the final, chilling pages where the ink becomes disjointed, the words devolve into panicked scrawls, and the last entry is interrupted by a horrifying revelation. The reader is left with the evidence of a failed--or perhaps brutally successful--attempt to breach the walls of reality.
While initiated by Lovecraft, The Diary of Alonzo Typer was completed by his correspondent William Lumley, and the final tale remains a perfect fusion of Lovecraftian atmosphere and meticulous psychological horror. It is a chilling exploration of the dangers of ritual magic and the price of seeking knowledge that belongs only to the stars.
Read the diary. See the end of a man's sanity.
