Jalal al-Din Rumi is a unique literary figure. He and his works have been warmly embraced in much of the Muslim world for 800 years, yet Rumi has aslo become a bestseller in the United States. A plethora of books, from the popular to the academic, have presented him to the English-speaking audience over the last several decades.
