Even though there is a large availability of sophisticated filtration systems, there are a great number of do-it-yourself methods that are capable of properly purifying water and making it safe for eating. The purpose of this book is to provide a full overview of professional strategies that are easy to implement in order to filter drinking water using materials that are readily available in nature or at home. These techniques will provide you with the knowledge you need to ensure that your water is always clean and safe, regardless of whether you are an outdoor enthusiast, a survivalist, or simply seeking for alternative solutions that are environmentally friendly.
1. Boiling:
Boiling water is one of the oldest and most reliable methods of purification. Heat the water to a rolling boil for at least 1 minute to kill bacteria, viruses, and parasites. At higher altitudes (above 5,000 feet), boil for 3 minutes.
2. Activated Charcoal Filter:
Activated charcoal effectively removes impurities and odors from water. To create a simple charcoal filter:
