Spatial contexts generally play an insignificant role in adult education and continuing education. However, a spatially differentiated view is essential. In addition, there is migration, in our case due to the choice of educational institutions. Forms of educational mediation must be taken into account, in particular due to the prevailing infrastructure of adult education and its institutions. Non-state education providers are institutions in the quaternary education sector that are not organizationally subordinate to the state, but are supported by it. Formally, learning takes place in educational or training institutions, is structured according to learning objectives and learning times and leads to a recognized certificate. The contribution is based on the concept of regional education in the self-image of adult and continuing education. Education is seen here as a learning and mediation process, characterized by a multitude of actors. Adult educators see themselves in their diversity as providers of education (adult education) after completing initial education at school and at work.
