Centrifugal pumps are one of the simplest part of any process plant. They are used for transportation of liquids over short to medium distance through pipelines at moderate head and discharge. The performance of centrifugal pump is affected by some critical parameters like volute tongue angle, speed of rotation and number of blades. The model pump with design speed 2900 rpm with a radial impeller with 5 numbers of blades has been considered. The flow field and characteristic of centrifugal pump with blades are simulated and predicted by ANSYS CFX-16.1 . The simulation is steady and moving reference frame is applied to take into account the impeller and volute interaction. For different tongue angle total pressure distribution and the changes in head as well as efficiency of the pump are computed and discussed.
