In the grand tapestry of human existence, there are threads that intertwine and create patterns that shape the course of nations. One such thread, a thread born of exploitation and oppression, wound its way across continents and across time, leaving a haunting legacy of torture and injustice. But where did this thread begin? Where did it take root, growing into the wicked tree of slavery that cast its ominous shadow over humanity? The journey starts with the loss of the Amerindian slaves, a loss that set the stage for the Atlantic slave trade.

As a writer and poet, I wanted to uncover and write about the truth. I wanted to help those forgotten voices bring you the story of enslavement. To give them the opportunity to tell the story of their pain and despair but also of their resilience and hope. It is a tale that needs to be told and heard, for only by understanding our past can we truly shape our future.
