Already the Red Prophet has one shard of the Dark Gem in his grasp and schemes to fool his enemies into retrieving the remaining ones for him. The perilous quests for the crystals bring together groups of characters who would not normally side together and won't find their temporary alliance always palatable. In the company of nomadic warriors, courageous dwarfs, stage performers, a she-pirate captain, mages and religious fanatics, Martemio is drawn into a deadly race against Gaelyon's agents.

To buy sufficient time for the questing parties to succeed, Martemio will have to rely upon Alexandre, a foe turned into ally and the foremost general of their generation.
