In systems operating with turbulent flow, the corrosive process is accelerated and the search for environmentally friendly solutions has aroused the scientific community. This work aims to present a theoretical and experimental approach to the application of extracts as corrosion bioinhibitors in this flow condition. An experimental platform with electrolytic flow control was built to carry out the tests. Although the results of some previous evaluations of other extracts tested are presented, the application of Limonene extract in different concentrations to ABNT 1020 steel, using a turbulent flow of 3% NaCl, became the focus of this work, as it enabled a more detailed investigation of the phenomena at work. To this end, a number of procedures were carried out, such as electrochemical techniques (OCP, EIE, PPL), optical microscopy and FTIR of the extract. The results concluded that Limonene extract acts as a mixed corrosion inhibitor, reducing corrosion rates and increasing charge transfer resistances at all the concentrations studied. The MO and FTIR evaluations corroborate and complement the analyses.
