Following The Sun-Flag: A Vain Pursuit Through Manchuria is a travelogue written by John Fox Jr. in 1905. The book details Fox's journey through Manchuria, a region in northeast China, during the Russo-Japanese War. Fox, an American journalist, traveled to Manchuria to cover the conflict between Russia and Japan, hoping to witness the battles and report on the war. However, he found himself constantly hindered by bureaucratic red tape, language barriers, and the dangers of the battlefield. Throughout the book, Fox describes the landscapes, people, and customs of Manchuria, as well as his own experiences navigating the war-torn region.
