Great god from 1946 to 1958, Colonel Margot was incontestably the most prestigious chief rider after World War II. He was responsible for revitalizing the Manège de Saumur, bringing back the quality and prestige that it had previously been known for. Clearly an equestrian at heart, he was also a courageous soldier and a recognized artist. His work is worthy of being part of the Pantheon of painters of horses.

Gernal Durand commanded the Cadre from 1975 to 1984. He too, was a great horseman in his own time, participating in international competitions and in several Olympics. He piously collected Colonel Margot's teachings for this work, including anecdotal material demonstrating to us that the gods of Saumur are also men.
