Mon cher ami, j'ai résolu de vous écrire quelques lettres concernant la philosophie de Kant. Pourquoi ? Ce n'est pas que je juge que vous ayez trop peu lu cet auteur. Je ne crois pourtant pas que vous l'ayez lu assez ni que personne l'ait lu assez. Et cela se comprend; car la philosophie de Kant n'apporte dans l'histoire des doctrines rien de nouveau. Bergson a dit, assez astucieusement: Ce n'est qu'un Platonisme à peine renouvelé . On peut partir de là . À mes yeux, Kant a justement les vertus de Platon; il ne nous occupe pas de son système, mais pourtant il exerce sur nos pensées une énergique action. Il se peut que beaucoup lui tiennent rigueur de cela même. C'est qu'en effet Kant nous apporte les idées de tout le monde...
