-Les groupes communautaires, qui instrumentalisent l'Histoire à leur profit, d'où la multiplication des lois mémorielles...
-Les élites intellectuelles et médiatiques, qui s'érigent en ayatollah de la pensée unique. Premier étonnement, il n'y a plus aucune chronologie: en 1ère, on étudie la crise de 1929, puis la guerre de 1914. En 3ème, les attentats du 11 septembre précédent le Front populaire de 1936. Seconde surprise, des événements fondamentaux sont évacués, tel le 6 juin 1944.
La discréditation de notre passé entretient cette détestation de soi qui sommeille en chaque Français. Il nous manque cette fierté que l'on sent chez les Américains, les Chinois, les Britanniques, les Espagnols et qui est manifeste dans leurs manuels comme dans leur admiration pour leur héritage. Plus qu'un coup de gueule, ce livre est une déclaration d'amour à l'Histoire de France. Non, notre héritage n'est pas honteux, il est source de fierté et nous aidera à reprendre confiance en nous. Les entretiens avec Robert Badinter, Emmanuel Le Roy Ladurie et Malika Sorel viennent conforter son analyse.
