Voyage au Congo est un carnet de route d'un voyage qu'André Gide effectua en Afrique Équatoriale française avec le réalisateur de films et photographe Marc Allégret. L'écrivain y dépeint la misère des villages, les maladies, dénonce le sort des prisonniers ou des enfants, les exactions de certains colons blancs et l'emprise des grandes compagnies coloniales. Ce réquisitoire contre les pratiques des compagnies commerciales et de l'administration suscite une vive émotion. Le texte déclenche de violentes polémiques dans la presse et Gide y répond fermement en se revendiquant en tant que voyageur libre. Alors que la question coloniale est investie d'un jour nouveau, ce texte d'époque apportant une contribution au débat d'idées mérite d'être redécouvert.
