I am Devyn Adair, the son of a simple innkeeper in a mountain village. What do I know about wielding magic? I was raised to fear and hate magic as it was outlawed in my lands long ago. After being ambushed by nasty dragon-like creatures called Dramyds, my friends and I have been trying to help the wielders thwart the evil Naneden and his armies from taking my homeland and more importantly taking control of the ancient battlefield known as the Sacred Land, for the once barren land is regenerating it's former magic tenfold and whoever controls the Sacred Land will rule the world.

Because I have been using essence, the basis for magic, I am being told I have essence sickness and need to travel to a distant land to be cured like the wielders of old. Mad? Why would anyone think I'm mad? The trial I took to cure my sickness gave me purpose. I have a new mission and I will do anything to reach my goal, even if the wielders and all my friends think I have betrayed them. I will find enlightenment and bring magic back to the people. No one will get in my way.
