Das vorliegende Werk wurde erstmalig im Jahre 2000 in Deutschland vorgelegt. Es geht darin um das tiefgründige Thema der menschlichen Existenz inklusive der Wahrnehmung des Universums. Nicht nur in den buddhistischen Lehren, sondern weithin in der Philosophie und Literatur von Ost und West wird dieser Themenbereich häufig untersucht. Schon oft haben viele von uns darüber etwas gehört, gelesen und darüber nachgedacht; doch wer von uns hat die Erkenntnis über das wahre Wesen der Welt schon selbst unmittelbar erlangt?
In dieser Arbeit nähert sich der Autor der Thematik, indem er einige Konzepte von Sein und Nichtsein behandelt, die gewöhnlich in unserem Leben wirksam werden. Unter anderem geht es um deren Bedeutung in der romantischen Liebe, der Liebe zur Heimat, im Glück und Leid ... bis hin zu Konzepten von Sein und Nichtsein hinsichtlich der Weisheit (Prajñā), insbesondere in der für die Lehre vom Mittleren Weg so wichtigen Schrift: Mula-Madhyamaka-Karika (Skt, Chin.: zhōngguān lùn; Jap.: chūkanron; Tib.: dbu ma, Vietn.: Trung Quán Luận).
In Ein paar Worte zum Buch schrieb der Autor:
Ich habe das Sujet Sein und Nichtsein für dieses Buch gewählt, das 29. Werk meiner Bücherreihe, wofür es viele Gründe gibt. Aber mein Hauptmotiv ist stets, den Menschen zur Vervollkommnung des Geistes zu verhelfen. Eine Vollkommenheit des Geistes kann nur durch das Praktizieren des Dharma erreicht werden. Ein Erfolg zeigt sich dann, wenn die Erkenntnis über das wahre Wesen der Welt erlangt wird, nämlich dass alle Dinge und Erscheinungen dem Gesetz des Werdens und Vergehens unterworfen sind. Ebenso sollen alle Menschen die Einsicht darüber entfalten, was die Wahrheit und was die ultimative Wahrheit ist, was Leiden ist, was Frieden und Glück ist usw. Es ist schwierig, eine Arbeit zu schreiben mit dem Ziel, den Leserinnen und Lesern die Theorie des abhängigen Entstehens[1] und damit die Ursachen des Lebens und aller Wesen vollständig zu vermitteln. Jedes Buch kann nur wenige ausgewählte Aspekte des gro en Themas dazu beitragen. Die Sicht auf das Universum als Ganzes könnte entstehen, wenn alle notwendigen menschlichen Ursachen und Bedingungen (vietn.: nhân duyên) dafür erfüllt sind. Auch hoffe ich, dass mein bescheidener Beitrag aus buddhistischer Perspektive dabei helfen wird, das Universum besser zu verstehen.
