The work of Swiss
artist Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) represents a unique contribution
to modernist sculpture. Known for his elongated, expressive figures from
the period after 1945, he was also a notable member of the Surrealist
group around André Breton between 1930 and 1935. To mark the anniversary
Giacometti's surrealist oeuvre, exploring how the surrealist element
continues in his post-war works. His friendship and artistic ties with
Max Ernst are also examined for the first time. The richly-illustrated,
trilingual catalogue presents Giacometti's surrealist-influenced
sculptures together with paintings, drawings and prints.

Erstmals wird dabei auch seine freundschaftliche und künstlerische Verbindung zu Max Ernst in den Blick genommen.
