El propósito de este libro es alentar la reflexión y ampliar la documentación sobre las distintas formas que adquirieron los vanguardismos iberoamericanos durante un marco temporal más dilatado del que suelen enfocar los estudios crÃticos canónicos, incentivando el reconocimiento de la labor artÃstica tanto de las vanguardias históricas y transatlánticas como de las neovanguardias posbélicas. Se detiene, también, en el fenómeno de la vanguardia polÃtica, pues en el ámbito del idioma español, la orilla hispanoamericana puso tempranamente en evidencia la falsa disyuntiva entre literatura social y literatura de vanguardia. Estas cuestiones se desarrollan a través de cinco ejes temáticos: la vanguardia plástica y sus confluencias transatlánticas, intersemióticas e interlingüÃsticas; la vanguardia y antivanguardia en/desde España; casos y (re)definiciones de transvanguardia, vanguardia, nacionalismo, nativismo; la importación negativa y positiva de los ismos en Hispanoamérica y, por último, los estudios de revistas y publicaciones periódicas de la vanguardia tardÃa/posvanguardia.
