Sir William Wallace, ca. 1270 - 23. August 1305) war ein schottischer Ritter, der zu einem der wichtigsten Anführer im Ersten Schottischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg wurde.
Zusammen mit Andrew Moray besiegte Wallace im September 1297 eine englische Armee in der Schlacht bei Stirling Bridge. Er wurde zum Guardian of Scotland ernannt und diente bis zu seiner Niederlage in der Schlacht bei Falkirk im Juli 1298. Im August 1305 wurde Wallace in Robroyston in der Nähe von Glasgow gefangen genommen und König Edward I. von England übergeben, der ihn wegen Hochverrats und Verbrechen gegen die englische Zivilbevölkerung hängen, ausweiden und vierteilen lie .
Seit seinem Tod hat Wallace über seine Heimat hinaus einen legendären Status erlangt. Er ist der Protagonist des epischen Gedichts The Wallace von Blind Harry aus dem 15.
