English summary: Identity and the Tradition of Catholic Social Thought: Understanding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion The concept of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion pretends to eliminate existing injustices in politics, society, the economy and within the Church. Catholic social teaching shares this goal but raises certain objetions. This volume documents the contributions of the 16th German-American Colloquium of July 2022, which discussed the problem in an interdisciplinary way with the participation of renowned experts from both countries. German description: Das Schlagwort Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (Vielfalt, Gleichstellung und Inklusion) dient in wachsendem Masse in Politik, Wirtschaft, Universitat, in Teilen auch schon in der Kirche, dazu, im Namen einer (tatsachlich oder vermeintlich benachteiligten) Minderheit der (zumeist) schweigenden Mehrheit bestimmte Verhaltensweisen aufzuerlegen und ihren Sprachgebrauch zu steuern. Auch der katholischen Soziallehre geht es darum, bestehende Ungerechtigkeiten zu beseitigen. Ob allerdings die Konzeption von DEI dazu einen Beitrag leisten kann, welcher der christlichen Moral und Anthropologie (sowie dem geltenden Recht) entspricht, bedarf der naheren Ausleuchtung. Der Band thematisiert in interdisziplinarer Perspektive, welche Herausforderungen DEI fur das Handeln von Staat wie Kirche mit sich bringt und welche Auswirkungen dies auf Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft entfaltet.
