L'assedio di Corinto (The Siege of Corinth) is a dramma serio per musica (serious opera) in three acts by Gioachino Rossini, set to an Italian libretto by Luigi Balocchi and Alexandre Soumet. The opera is a reworking of Rossini's earlier French opera, Le siège de Corinthe (1826). The Italian version premiered in Parma in 1828.
Set during the siege of Corinth by the Ottoman Turks, the opera combines themes of love, duty, and sacrifice against the backdrop of a historical conflict. Rossini's score is notable for its dramatic intensity, vocal demands, and powerful choruses. L'assedio di Corinto remains a significant work in the bel canto repertoire, showcasing Rossini's mastery of the operatic form.
