This is The Handbook of Analytical Reading. It is based on the discovery by Nedra Newkirk Lamar of the principles and patterns of everyday conversational speech--and explains how to use them to read aloud naturally. It is founded on her seminal work, How to Speak the Written Word, that for more than forty years has helped students of Lamar's affiliates read more naturally and effectively.
In these pages you will find easy to follow explanations of these basic principles, complete with examples. There are also practice examples at the end of most chapters so you can test your progress.
The handbook starts with the basic principles of Analytical Reading to give the student a foundation in the science and art of good reading. Later chapters explain more advanced principles, which help the student gain deeper insights into the writer's meaning, and show how to convey this meaning when reading aloud in a more conversational manner.
