Godfrey of Bulloigne: Or The Recovery of Jerusalem is a historical epic poem written by Torquato Tasso in 1580. The poem tells the story of the First Crusade and the Christian capture of Jerusalem from the Muslims in 1099. The main character, Godfrey of Bulloigne, is a noble knight who leads the Christian army to victory. The poem is divided into twenty cantos and is written in ottava rima, a form of poetry consisting of eight-line stanzas with a rhyme scheme of ABABABCC.
