The Great Stone Face is a short story written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It is set in a small village in New Hampshire and tells the story of a young boy named Ernest who lives in the shadow of a mountain with a rock formation that looks like the face of a great man. According to legend, a man will be born in the village who will resemble the Great Stone Face and become a great leader.Ernest grows up admiring the Great Stone Face and believing that the prophecy will come true. As he grows older, he becomes known for his kindness, wisdom, and integrity, and many people in the village believe that he is the one who will fulfill the prophecy. However, Ernest does not seek fame or power and remains humble. One day, a man named Gathergold comes to the village and becomes wealthy through his business ventures. He is arrogant and selfish, but many people in the village believe that he is the one who will fulfill the prophecy because of his wealth and success. However, when Gathergold sees the Great Stone Face, he realizes that he does not resemble it and becomes disillusioned.Years pass, and Ernest continues to live a simple life, helping others and spreading kindness. One day, a stranger comes to the village and recognizes Ernest as the one who resembles the Great Stone Face. The stranger reveals that he is a famous writer who has been searching for the man who will fulfill the prophecy. Ernest is surprised but humbled by the recognition and continues to live his life as he always has, inspiring others with his kindness and wisdom. The Great Stone Face is a story about the importance of character and integrity, and how true greatness comes from within. It is a timeless tale that continues to inspire readers of all ages. This is an easy to read story, suitable both for adults and children, about the psychological and mystical workings of the human mind. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
