What is life other than the variegated activities as well as psychic turmoils of the wayfarer of life waiting for arrival of the vessel of death eventually! What bizarre experiences does he or she not accumulate during this tortuous wait! With a view to ameliorating the pain of this excruciating wait the noble ones -- satvas -- of all the ages have recommended recitation and perusal of poetry and gospels. Besides, invariably, recognising the significance of prayer!
Mano Pubbangamaa dhammaa,
Mano setthaa manomayaa!
Lord Buddha has propounded whole of this rigmarole of Creation or phenomenon as having been engendered as a fallout of the psychic activities. It therefore follows therefrom that by keeping the psyche pure as well as undisturbed one can transform one's perception of the world. Insofar as everything is essentially only imaginary -- psychic -- everybody feels as if one's own perception were a true experience. Nonetheless, everything is merely imaginary; it can neither be termed as real, nor unreal. The prayer per se is, therefore, a means to control or console the psyche.
