Tessie, an eight-year-old girl preparing for her school Christmas pantomime, secretly decides that Santa should have a real name: Nicholas. One snowy evening she spots a sad, silent man in a red coat standing alone on the street and bravely goes out to help him, realising he is Santa Claus, who has lost his joy and his voice because people no longer seem to believe in him.
Through her kindness, music, and unshakable belief, Tessie gradually rekindles Nicholas's magic: stars swirl, invisible instruments play, and her recorder is transformed into a silver flute as they perform Nick's Theme together for her astonished parents. After a warm evening of stories and gifts, Nicholas departs in a sleigh with Rudolph, restored to his full Santa self, while Tessie and her family discover that the small presents he left behind have turned into magical keepsakes.
That night, Tessie's enchanted snow globe shows the image of Saint Nicholas, and she falls asleep knowing that the true gift of Christmas is belief and that simple acts of kindness can bring back the magic for everyone.
