Kitab Ayub adalah salah satu Kitab yang paling sulit dalam Alkitab. Biasanya, orang memikirkan Ayub dalam konteks tentang seseorang yang jujur dan saleh; yang sedang diuji oleh Allah tanpa alasan sama sekali; ia tidak mengeluh; dan ia melewati semua pencobaan dengan sangat baik serta menerima jumlah berkat dua kali lipat dari harta yang sebelumnya ia miliki. Namun, dengan pemahaman yang dangkal seperti ini, kita tidak dapat benar-benar mendapatkan berbagai jawaban untuk berbagai pertanyaan yang muncul dalam Kitab ini.
Saya hanya rindu untuk memahami firman Allah dengan baik dan hidup menurutnya. Sejak saat saya menerima Yesus, saya mulai berdoa kepada Allah untuk menerangkan Alkitab kepada saya secara terperinci. Melalui banyak doa dan puasa selama tujuh tahun, Allah akhirnya menjawab doa saya. Oleh ilham dari Roh Kudus Ia membuat saya pertama-tama mengerti tentang ayat-ayat yang sulit dari Alkitab, dan saya jadi memahami setiap ayat yang mengandung makna rohani yang begitu dalam.
Kitab Ayub meneliti hati manusia dengan sangat mendalam dan memberi tahu kita mengenai kejahatan serta kecenderungan alami yang ada dalam lubuk hati kita, sehingga membuat kita sadar akan diri kita sendiri. Yang terutama, melalui kitab ini kita dapat mengertahui apakah kita merupakan manusia daging ataukah manusia roh, dan juga memberi kita metodoogi tentang bagaimana berubah menjadi manusia roh. 'Daging' berati sesuatu yang berubah, tidak benar, dan kegelapan, sementara 'roh' berarti kebenaran, hal-hal yang tidak berubah dan kekal, dan dunia terang.
Pada bulan Desember 1986, saya mulai mengkhotbahkan apa yang telah diajarkan Tuhan kepada saya mengenai Kitab Ayub pada kebaktian Jumat semalaman. Hal itu berlangsung selam enam tahun penuh sampai 11 Desember 1992. Sementara saya sedang mengkhotbahkan tentang Kitab Ayub, banyak anggota jemaat gereja yang menjadi sadar akan diri mereka sendiri melalui firman yang dibagikan dan mulai mencoba mematahkan ego dan keakuan mereka, dan berubah dengan kebenaran.
Kitab Ayub membahas tentang pentingnya kata-kata yang positif serta politik interaksi sosial yang baik dan berhasil. Namun, kitab itu memiliki makna rohani yang begitu dalam sehingga kita baru dapat memahami makna sepenuhnya hanya bila diintrepetasikan oleh ilham Roh Kudus. Kitab ini meliputi subjek yang luas berkenaan dengan berbagai permasalahan hidup dan secara luas menjabarkan dengan mendetil aliran tiga arah dari aturan rohani yang terjadi antara Allah, manusia dan Iblis. Kitab Ayub menguraikan cara untuk menerima berkat dan bagaimana serta mengapa Iblis dapat mendakwa manusia.
Allah membiarkan segala sesuatu dituliskan melalui Ayub tentang bagaimana Ia berkerja dalam kehidupan kita sehingga kita dapat menemukan masalah kita dan menyelesaikannya. Allah membuat percakapan antara Ayub dan sahabat-sahabatnya dituliskan dalam kitab ini, sehingga ada kebenaran dan ketidakbenaran bersama-sama di dalamnya. Kita dapat membedakannya dan menentukan apakah benar atau tidak saat kita merenungkannya dengan Firman Allah.
Jika kita memahami Kitab Ayub, kita dapat memeperoleh hikmat dan kekuatan untuk mengatasi berbagai kesulitan atau masalah dalam hidup.
